One of my female friends reposted an article about sexism. It focused on how often men objectify women. It railed against guys who judge women based solely on physical appearance. I agree with the article’s sentiment. I’m against the objectification of women. But I believe the problem is larger than that. No one should be forced into a box. Human beings categorize everything. It makes existence easier for our primate brains to understand.
I’ve felt the pressure too. As a man I’m pulled in a number of directions. I’m told that it’s inappropriate to talk about sex at the dinner table, and I shouldn’t show so much interest in combat sports. I should be a gentleman, and take interest in the arts.
